Overtime Pay Estimator
Estimate U.S. overtime pay using your weekly threshold and multiplier, with separate workweeks and time-and-a-half or double-time rate modes.
Know the numbers
How to use this calculator
For weekly overtime, enter the paid duration for each workweek, the base rate, threshold, and multiplier. Rate-only modes calculate 1.5× or 2× the base rate with an optional duration.
A worked example
At $20 per hour, 45 hours with a 40-hour threshold and 1.5× multiplier gives $800 regular pay plus $150 overtime pay: $950 gross.
The calculation
Regular hours = minimum(hours, threshold). Overtime hours = maximum(0, hours − threshold). Sum each component's pay after rounding it to cents.
Before you use the result
A simplified user-selected rule, not a legal determination. Coverage, regular-rate adjustments, state rules, daily overtime, and exceptions may change actual pay. Do not average two workweeks.
For coverage and federal overtime guidance, see the U.S. Department of Labor's Fact Sheet 23. Actual rules can differ from the simplified inputs used here.
