How to use this calculator

Choose the conversion direction. Enter hours and remaining minutes, or one decimal-hour amount. The converter displays whole minutes and decimal hours to two places.

A worked example

7 hours 45 minutes = 7 + 45 ÷ 60 = 7.75 hours. In reverse, 7.30 hours = 438 minutes = 7 hours 18 minutes.

The calculation

Decimal hours = total minutes ÷ 60. Reverse conversion = decimal hours × 60, rounded to the nearest minute.

Before you use the result

Two-place decimals are display values. Keep exact minutes when adding several shifts; adding individually rounded decimals can introduce small discrepancies.
